summer has gone so quickly!

Wow! I cannot believe so many months have just flown by! I'd had totally forgotten about my blog until scrolling down through facebook and noticed it's link right under my kids names...realization hit! I have failed to document some really interesting stuff about our family!!! So let's see if I can remember it all.

Let's see, I think I'll go down by person and not be month.
Paul worked almost constantly in May, until the Air Force decided they'd run out of money to pay him for all his hard work. I think it is now the end of August and they still haven't paid him for one or two weeks he did the end of May. All through the summer he seems to have been home more...which is good and bad. We love seeing him, hate his self denial of laziness that is thrust upon the rest of us. No sooner had I announced we were done with school for the summer, than he had the entire second story (minus the bedrooms and office) cleared! Ceilings were scraped, light fixtures and carpet removed, filling of cracks, scrapes and holes and then the sanding, priming and painting! After all of that, new carpet and light fixtures...oh, and I had to replace the bottom stair step as we expanded its size. I love the new classroom/den, but oh, vey I need another break!
I finally sought out drs for various ailments over the summer. Found out 1) My plantar faciitis is better, however due to compensating on how I walk/run, I now have tendonitis and feel like the top of my foot is being severed slowly and painfully...solution: I get to wear a foot brace as much as possible to protect the tendons and allow for healing. Pain still there, but at least it is better. 2) Nothing wrong with my heart that isn't related to hormone fluctuations; i.e. nothing to be done about it and 3) The location of my fibroid tumors are creating some discomfort and physical/medical problems and will probably need to be dealt with in the next six months. But on another note, school is going very well for all the kids this year.
Katherine decided rather last minute that homeschooling is what she'd prefer for her senior year. Although I had my doubts, thus far (3 weeks in) it is proving to be the best decision we've made in a long time. She is TONS happier and loves being challenged and being around homeschool kids. We had a surprise birthday for her and she was truly overwhelmed with emotion and well, *we got her good!*
Megan is enjoying school as well. Some other stuff is going on with her right now, but hopefully life will get better/easier/more enjoyable in a few months.
Rebecca, well, actually Rebecca, Stephen, and Lauren are all doing well at the 'new' school. I like this 'a la carte' type of school, where you pick and choose what you want to take and then you are free to home school what you want for the other subjects. Teaching Textbooks has been wonderful for the kids and they love doing their lessons and listening to lectures on the computer.
Kimberly is now home with mom (well, and Veronica) on Tuesdays! She is loving having some one on one time with me and few distractions since V naps for several hours during our time together. Preschool has been very easy for her. I guess that is what happens when you have older siblings!
We are all enjoying the new "clean" upstairs! V seems to have the only problem. Kat fell down the stairs with her on her hip about two months ago. Breaking V's leg bones at the ankle. She was in a hip cast for three weeks and then a smaller cast for another three weeks as the boot they went to put her in was too big. Now she is back to her normal self and climbing and getting into all kinds of trouble.
The end of summer means back to normal, and for one I am thankful!
