School days

Well, school has started back up and I miss them already. Katherine is just two years from graduation, has a permit, hormones, and can sweet talk the baby and cook some fabulous meals. Soon she will be off to college and a life of her own! Megan has finally adjusted to school and is actually doing very well. The addle-mindedness is still there, but I just pray she enters the convent or marries well ;)
Since Paul has been a bit annoyed with my approach to homeschooling, we came to a compromise. Stephen and Becca are attending a school they only go once or twice a week (Becca goes twice as they divide the Humanities from Math & Science). All lessons are taught by certified teachers and the assignments are emailed to me...actually I am enjoying this far more as I can just teach what they tell me to and it isn't on me for them to get their work done....they are actually coming to me and showing me their work...so much better than before when there was a lot of discipline and tears and not a whole lot of obedience and staying on task. The kids are enjoying it as well. Stephen is still coasting, but I am sure it will get harder and pick up the pace once everyone adjusts.
Lauren is doing well, we are trying some new curriculums this year that enhance her creativity while still teaching and challenging her. she and Becca both jumped back into gymnastics and are doing great. Lauren even had her 8th birthday there and all the girls looked like they had a blast! August seems to pack on the pounds for us as we have three birthdays just here in the family! I wonder if any of the stores offer a group discount for cakes???
Kimberly is starting to develop her own personality. Yesterday Paul walked into the computer room to get something. Kimberly looked up from her video/game that she'd set up for herself and she "kissed" him (made the sound in the air). She is often heard yelling at her siblings to "stop that!" or "I don't know what you are talking about!" Right now she is smothering our kitties with a little too much love. We got two new kitties after the first two disappeared. I fear they were dinner for some wildlife around here. Now we keep them penned in the garage at night. Tiger has already managed to kill three voles! He is a good hunter!
Veronica is growing and thriving with all the love that is showered on her. No one can stand to hear her cry and she is constantly in someone's arms. She's also a lot more fun now that she makes "pleasant sounds" as Paul calls it. Still looks like a little Indian papoose, she is starting to finally chunk up and sleep for longer bits of time. Still hates the car seat and screams, for the most part, every time I put her in it. I'm still working my tail off to make sure things run smoothly around here and enjoying/adjusting to being around Paul again! He is home for quite a bit since he is back "in school." Well, gotta scoot to pick up Becca!
